Dental Treatment Aftercare Guide

Your journey doesn’t end with your treatment. It begins with your smile.

Dental Aftercare: Your Guide to a Smooth Recovery

At Sifa Care, your smile journey does not end when your treatment in Turkey is complete. Following the right aftercare is key to smooth healing and long-lasting results. Our expert team is here to guide you every step of the way, with clear instructions and UK-based support to keep your new smile healthy and protected.

  • Rest and take it easy
  • Stick to soft, room-temperature foods
  • Use prescribed painkillers or anti-inflammatory medication
  • Apply a cold pack (wrapped in cloth) to the cheek if swollen
  • Eat hot, spicy, crunchy, or sticky foods
  • Drink alcohol or smoke (delays healing)
  • Rinse your mouth too aggressively
  • Touch treated areas with your fingers or tongue

Diet During Recovery

Safe Foods (first 3–7 days):

  • Soups (lukewarm)

  • Mashed potatoes

  • Yoghurt / smoothies

  • Scrambled eggs

  • Soft rice or pasta

Avoid:

  • Nuts, crisps, popcorn

  • Chewing gum

  • Fizzy drinks

  • Very hot or cold items (especially with temporary crowns or veneers)

Oral Hygiene Advice

  • Brush gently with a soft-bristled brush

  • Avoid direct brushing on treated areas for the first few days

  • Rinse with salt water after meals (avoid strong mouthwash for 5 days)

  • Avoid flossing near new crowns/veneers for 7–10 days

Treatment-Specific Aftercare

Veneers/Crowns:

  • Avoid biting hard items (nuts, pens, nails)

  • Use a night guard if you grind your teeth (ask your dentist)

  • Expect mild sensitivity to hot/cold for a few weeks

Dental Implants:

  • No pressure on the implant site for the first week

  • Avoid using the implant side to chew for 1–2 weeks

  • Swelling and bruising is normal – should subside in 3–7 days

Teeth Whitening:

  • Avoid staining foods for 48 hours: coffee, tea, red wine, berries

  • Expect slight tooth sensitivity – avoid extremes in temperature

  • Use desensitising toothpaste if needed

Dental Aftercare: Your Guide to a Smooth Recovery

At Sifa Care, your smile journey does not end when your treatment in Turkey is complete. Following the right aftercare is key to smooth healing and long-lasting results. Our expert team is here to guide you every step of the way, with clear instructions and UK-based support to keep your new smile healthy and protected.

Warning signs to watch for once back in the UK

If you notice any unusual symptoms after your treatment, it’s important to contact your clinic right away. Seek help immediately if you experience persistent bleeding beyond 24 hours, severe swelling or pain that does not improve after three days, a high fever or chills, an unpleasant taste or discharge that may indicate infection, or if a crown, veneer, or implant becomes loose.

Once you return home, we recommend continuing your care by visiting a UK dentist for regular check-ups. Be sure to inform your dentist about any treatment you received abroad and keep your Sifa Care treatment report safe for future reference.
